Teacher’s Assistant – Kinematics and Dynamics
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA, TAMPA, FLBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering 08/2001 - 08/2006
Overall GPA: 3.30/4.00
EXPERIENCE OCEANEERING INTERNATIONAL INC, HOUSTON, TX - Senior Design Engineer – Service, Tools And Rentals Division (ST&R)
07/2018 – Current
Lead design engineer of custom robotic tools for use in the offshore deep water oil & gas operations, responsible for project design, analysis, and testing.
Redesigned ROV docking system for seismic node delivery skid allowing ROV to consistently dock with node reloading skid in under a minute while travelling at 2.5 knots, previous system took as long as 15 minutes to dock at 0 knots
Designed and tested a pipeline coating removal tool from concept to delivery in under 5 weeks
Provided coaching to junior engineers
BLACK HORSE PUMPS LLC, a Caterpillar Joint Venture, HOUSTON, TX - Design Engineer – Well Stimulation Pump Design 07/2017 – 01/2018
Supported lifecycle management, design, and analysis of Power End section of well stimulation pumps used in fracturing operations
Improved part design to reduce cost and increase product reliability; examples include conrod surface finish refinement and simplification of machined fillet (4% cost saving), gasket material upgrade (40% cost saving), and removal of unnecessary seal housing features (6% cost saving)
Performed root cause analysis of conrod bolted joint failure and premature thrust bearing wear; implemented simple solutions eliminating both failures
Orchestrated projects with manufacturing, purchasing, quality and field service to ensure seamless integration of new projects
Managed EPC projects, directly interfacing with client team throughout design, procurement, fabrication, and testing
Spearheaded Chevron Jack St. Malo Subsea Pipe Repair System as a lead design engineer; activities include design, stress analysis and system integration of five (5) pipe lift frames for a 24” pipeline with total project revenue of $10 million
Reduced frame weight by 50% while increasing lift capacity by 88% compared to previous pipe repair system through efficient structural design and weight dispersing mechanism
Decreased frame complexity and improved accuracy of fabrication by utilizing large jigged weldments and simplifying bolted interfaces, both of which reduced safety risk during assembly and assembly lead time
Preformed all Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which was previously outsourced, resulting in $80,000 cost savings and shortened project schedule
Troubleshot aging ROV hydraulic systems and created procedures to isolate hydraulic failures
Redesigned ROV hydraulic system extending service life and reducing routine maintenance
Provided technical training to internal departments
Independently designed 6 pneumatic resistance exercise machines from cradle to grave in 6 months
Conducted feasibility study of combining multiple exercise types into one machine in order to reduce workout time and equipment floor space to support equipment design
Worked directly with in-house fabricators and machinist during all phases of fabrication
TECHNICAL SKILLS CAD: SolidWorks, Inventor, PROE Creo, AutoCAD, WorkingModel Analysis: SolidWorks Simulation, NEI Nastran, ANSYS, General PC: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, Visio), EpicoreHobbies: Car Restoration, Metal Fabrication, Welding, Painting PATENTS
